Theodora palette review!

Ignore my terrible eyebrows. They are being grown out after a bad wax!

While I love bargain products, I recently decided it was time to expand my collection a little bit and buy some higher end stuff. It started out with Kat Von D foundation (which is HG status for me and will be reviewed soon!) and has grown from there. I am still a poor cosmetology student, though, so I was left drooling over the new limited edition Glinda and Theodora   palettes from Urban Decay.
Well, I woke up the other morning and surprise!... Zach had ordered them both for me. What a stud! So, tonight I bring you a review of the Theodora palette.

Price: $49.99
Includes: Palette containing 6 new eyeshadows (0.05 oz), Theodora Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color (0.10 oz), and Zero 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil (0.03 oz)
Would I recommend?:   YES.

First of all, let me say I love the packaging of this product. Not only is the artwork really cool, but the eyeshadows are housed in a tin container, so the whole thing just feels very sturdy and well-made. Also, the eyeshadows are removable and can be replaced with other UD shadows. Neat! The palette itself comes in your standard cardboard box with the same artwork as the palette and the eyeshadow names on the back. Inside the box is a "get the look" card and the lipstick.

Broken: Is a really pretty matte cream color. It looks white on the swatch due to the flash, but it pulls more of a buttercream color. It is very soft and pigmented for such a light color. No chalkiness and blends beautifully!

Beware: A medium matte brown. Again, very soft and no chalkiness. Works well as a wash or in the crease.

Bewitch: Darker brown shade that is more gray than warm. Again, fantastic pigmentation!

West: Another sparkly dark brown shade. Warmer than bewitch. Very soft and blendable.

Spell (black side): A sparkly charcoal color. Not super intense, but you can easily build it up. I really think this is a good thing in a black shadow because I love putting them in my crease. If it is super pigmented it is just too harsh. I did experience fall-out with the glitter, though.

Spell (gold side): Gorgeous gold color! One of my favorites in this palette. Very pigmented and so easy to blend. Great shadow.

Jealous (darker green): Very lovely shimmery medium green color. I like it because it is an earthy green color, so it can be worn for every day wear or smoked out for night time without being too intense. It is very pigmented and goes on my lids wonderfully.

Jealous (lighter green): Frosty light green color. It reminds me of tinkerbell for some strange reason. Again, it is very pigmented and blends like a dream.

Theodora super-saturated lip color: Oh my gosh. This is my favorite lipstick right now! It does not pull too blue-toned on me, which is almost impossible in red lipsticks on my skintone for some reason. I love the fact that it is not drying at all... in fact it is like a really badass lipgloss. It is very intensely pigmented and has great staying power. My only complaint is that it tends to travel a bit and I end up with lipstick under my lip... or on my nose, somehow.

24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in "Zero": This is a jet black liner which is great for smudging if you are doing a smokey eye. I love it on my bottom waterline as it does not smear all up under my eyes like most eyeliners.

Overall, I say this palette is a great buy. You can get so many looks from it and, like most UD products, the pigmentation is awesome. I see myself reaching for this palette daily, which is rare for me! I think there is something for everyone here and I suggest picking it up if you want something that works consistently and is long-lasting!

Hope everyone is doing well!

School Christmas party.

So, if anyone has been following my blog for any length of time you would know I had major issues with my school and took a leave to attempt to transfer. It didn't work out, but I am not really sorry. I love the girls I am with and the other school I toured definitely lacked the family feel my school has. Tomorrow I should be finished up with tests and be able to go out on the floor... yikes!

Anyways, before I went back I was asked to some in and do a makeup class during the school's Christmas party. I said yes and used my friend Autumn as a model. It was a lot of fun! The look I did was a very obviously inspired by the holidays. Let me just tell ya, Autumn has the most perfect face ever to work on. Her skin is so perfect I just want to smack her (not in a mean way of course.) These pictures are so funny because for whatever reason she looks grumpy, but we were laughing like five minutes before. She is such a fun lady. I wish I would have taken some outside because our classroom lighting is HORRIBLE. Oh well, maybe next time!

Hope y'all are having a great day and, to those of you in and around Tennessee, I hope you stayed safe during the tornaders! I was home alone during them and my cousin ran to my house because she was home alone too. We hid in a closet with all the critters. Scary stuff!

Halloween!

So, yesterday was Halloween and the makeup competition at school! I decided to bust out my zombie look and ended up winning. Sorry for the heavy picture post, but I wanted to show my transformation... it's not pretty! My friend Chris took these photos and in some of them I wasn't aware I was being photographed and am making the strangest faces ever. Oh well! I am human. Sometimes I make odd faces... I even wore the makeup in to drop off a job application and I had an interview today. Hahaha. Later, I zombified my friend as well and we went to some lame haunted house where a 14-year-old tried to hold hands with me. It was really awkward.  Afterwards we ate way too much Waffle House and crashed on the couch while watching a 60's informational video about safety on Halloween and eating Fun Dip.

In other words, it was pretty epic.

What did you do on Halloween?

P.S.- I am trying to enable threaded comments on here so that I can reply to everyone, but I am having issues. Any advice?

Night of the living moms!

I know, I know. I said no posting on the weekends. I just felt this was too rad not to post!

I am lucky. I have a mother that supports me and is basically always willing to be a guinea pig for hair and makeup related things. So, last night when I said "let me turn you into a zombie!", she was game. She makes such a pretty zombie... you know, as far as attractive reanimated corpses go.

Zach did the blood trickle coming out of her nose. I have never seen someone so proud of themselves.

If anyone is interested, I might just post a tutorial!

Natural Eyes: A Tutorial

As much as I love makeup, I really hate spending a ton of time on my own. Allergies keep me constantly rubbing my eyes and smearing my mascara. So, 90% of the time my makeup stays very natural.

So, I today I come bringing you a tutorial on how I do my "every day eyes"!

My skin is having a bit of a meltdown, so I convinced my cousin to model for me.

I used Urban Decay's "Naked" palette, but any neutral shadows will work just as well!

Step One: Apply a light, neutral shadow all over lids. I used  "Virgin", but any light shade with a bit of shimmer will do!

Step Two: Using a fluffy dome brush, blend a medium brown shade into crease. I used "Buck".

Step Three: Blend a dark brown into your "outer V". I also brought this shade down onto her lower lash line as well. Remember: Blending is your friend with this look! You don't want to look done up, you just want to enhance what you already have! I used "Darkhorse".

Step Four: To finish off this look, apply a tiny bit of eyeliner to the lash line and use a coat of mascara... as you can tell here, my eyeliner pen was drying out. Oops!

Now you're done! Just pair these eyes with a bit of pink blush on the apples of your cheeks and some sheer pink gloss and you're good to go!

But wait! Let's say the look is a bit too "naked" for ya.

Optional Step: Use a bright colored eye pencil on lower lash line! This will really make your eyes "pop".

I hope everyone had a good day! Mine could have been better. Murnau started passing blood through certain areas on Saturday night and I have been a wreck worrying about him. Today we finally got him in at the vet and they informed me that he has a 103 degree fever, a UTI, and a respiratory infection. They kept him overnight... I am not going to be able to sleep!

Time to go watch tv and worry myself sick over my fur baby.

Autumn Eyes!

I am so ready for fall I can't stand it. Tennessee is beautiful once the leaves change. With the hot, muggy summer we had this year you can't blame me for wishing for cool weather.

Scarves... bonfires... corn mazes...

PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES.

Autumn was my inspiration for my FOTD. The one down side about this time a year? Ridiculously swollen allergy eyes. No amount of cold tea bags is helping me. I think it is time I got over myself and went to get an allergy shot, because my eyes look so tired. And wrinkly. Am I the only one who gets weird under eye bags/wrinkle things when my allergies get terrible? They are really itchy, too!

Lips-
e.l.f. Studio Matte Lip Color in "Rich Red"
And a red from the 120 eyeshadow palette I listed above.

Please ignore how chapped my lips look. I currently only own one red lipstick and it was too pink toned for this look, so I put a bit of red eyeshadow on top of it. Dried my lips out like crazy.

Also check out my birthmark under my armpit. I think birthmarks are awesome. I am weird, I know.

Today was my first day taking pictures outside and I was kinda nervous about it... The thought of the neighbors watching me freaks me out. Also, taking pictures is hard when dogs are tackling you trying to get you to cuddle them. I had to let them get in a picture with me! The pug I am holding is named Big (my little brother named him) and Pocky is the pretty girl watching us. Not pictured are Mookie, Alice, and Kota.... we have too many animals.

P.S.- Yes, I am pigeon-toed. I wish I were just doing the cutesy pose girls are always doing where their feet turn in, but mine just naturally do that.

P.S.S.- Sorry about my bra strap! I just now noticed it. ;p

Hope everyone has had a great day!

This week in Instagram.

1. Four people in a tiny photobooth.... it was very warm. This is from a recent trip to Murfreesboro. I love my friends.

2. Last night with Matilda living here. I have had her since I was 15 and I am horrible and have yet to blog about her. She is so different from Murnau and very hard to get pictures of. She is very, very independent and only cuddles when she feels like it... which is rare. Since I rescued Murnau my tiny room has become too cramped with both fuzzy sneeze creatures living in here, so last week Zach took her since Murnau requires a bit more attention. I am crying like a little baby in the picture, so luckily it is dark haha.

3. My makeup this morning. It was gloomy, so I threw on some orange and purple to brighten my mood. AND I GOT BANGS. I love them. I am going to rock these for another week or so before going full pin-up fringe. Yaaaaay. Also, boo puffy allergy eyes.

4. A picture I found of my aunt and mom.... oh my goodness. I love this. Look at those awesome handmade dresses my Mammie put on them. And I love the contrast between my dark featured aunt and my fair-haired mom. Looks like my family ran out of all the Native American traits before my grandma had my mom haha. Which is probably why I look so different from my cousins. Oh well.

5. Murnau enjoying belly rubs. He is getting to be a little lard ass since he doesn't have to share food. Lazy bum.

6. ANOTHER of Murnau. I miss Matilda a ton, so I am taking a ton of pictures of my Murmeooooow (Zach loves it when I call him that. And by "love" I mean he considers breaking up with me when he hears me do that.)

7. Posing with my friends before my first night clubbing. We went to Play in Nashville, which is a gay club. Everyone was really cool and it was fun not having to worry about getting hit on. We talked to some really cool people and I could seriously watch drag queen shows all night. They are beautiful!

8. On the way to Play. Sarah and I got bored (because we were lost and had been driving forever) and started taking silly pictures in the backseat. Look how sleepy I look and we weren't even there yet.

9. One of the drag queens. I want them to teach me to do makeup. I loved this one in particular because she was so unique. However, after the show, I was ready to go. I realized I am too much of an old lady for the wild nightlife.

10. My mammie's cooking. Fried chicken, mashed taters and peas, and egg gravy and biscuits. Oh my gosh. My stomach is growling just thinking about it.

11. An old pic of Zach, but one of my favorites. I am so bad about sneaking pictures of him because I think he is the most handsome thing ever. I think we had been together a little over 6 months when this was taken.
