Little boots.

I had to neglect my little blog yesterday. I guess planned posts are just going to have to take a backseat to family time this week. As you already know, my cousins are in from Bermuda. This is the only time I get to see them all year and I am trying to squeeze in as much time with them as I possibly can before they fly back to their little island on Saturday. Yeah, I am going to be a big cry baby about it I am sure.

So today I am posting something non-beauty related. Sue me.

Yesterday we dressed the boys up in jeans and cowboy boots. We had hats, but they both sort of drew the line there and would only wear them in a few pictures. I took pictures of them out at my grandparent's house. They turned out so sweet, despite the fact that it was muggy and we were all turning into sticky messes.

Slightly out of focus. I am still trying to get used to my new camera.

Ethan and I. I plan to show this to any future girlfriends he may have. He was my sweet boy first.

Well, I am off to spend time with the family. Toodles!

Review: Metal Mania Palette

I am the world's worst about buying a bunch of different products and then just sticking to my same old routine and forgetting about them. School does not leave much time to really play around with makeup in the mornings and Zach just does not understand why I need to take that much in front of the mirror when I look "pretty much the same without it." I tend to just stick to my UD Naked palette and BB cream lately. So, when I decided to pop the Metal Mania Palette from Coastal Scents open the other day for the first time in forever I felt like I was trying out a brand new product even though I ordered it nearly a year ago.

Ignore how dusty it is. I have had this for a long time and I have barely made a dent in it, but I am so happy I "rediscovered" it. It is a very good palette for someone, like me, who wants a great product for a really good price. I would also highly recommend this for anyone who is just starting out in makeup. It comes in a black, plastic case with the Coastal Scents logo stamped on the front. The case seems pretty sturdy and there is also a mirror on the inside. I did not take a picture of the packaging because I had a mineral foundation spill out on the case recently and I do not have the energy to clean it off at the moment.  Sorry! You will just have to check it out on the website if you are curious. :)

The colors are, for the most part, pigmented and blend beautifully. However, there are a few "misses" that I have noticed. Particularly the white shadows in the upper left corner. They tend to be more chalky than anything and you have to layer them on to get any kind of payoff. I have found that using a white eyeliner as a base on the areas I plan on using the white really makes them pop like they are meant to.

Other than the few chalky ones, I have found no other flaws with this palette. The purples especially are GORGEOUS. I could do a purple smokey eye every day and never get tired of it with all the different plums and violets. Every single one is soooo pretty. The lasting power on these are great, too! I used them on my cousin back in April and she fell asleep, woke up the next morning, and apart from some slight smudging her eyeshadow was still perfect. I do partially give credit to using an eyeshadow primer, though.

Overall this is a really fantastic product for the price. It is going for around $14 on the website right now, which is ridiculously cheap for the amount of product you receive. This baby is going to last you a while. It is great for smokey eyes, for a neutral look, and it even has some really pretty bright shadows mixed in. If something ever happens to mine I will definitely be repurchasing.

Well, it is off to bed again for me. Maybe one day I will be able to post before I am completely worn out.

Enjoy this picture of Murnau looking like he is singing.

Busy weekend/FOTD

There is only one word to sum up my weekend and that is "Whew!"... it was way too busy for my taste. My mister moved to Murfreesboro and amongst all the chaos with that I had a wedding to photograph. There was absolutely zero downtime. We are going to have to make up for it next weekend by doing as little as possible.

Anyways, on to my FOTD.

Face:
Dream Fresh BB
e.l.f. Studio Blush in "Tickled Pink"

Eyes:
Metal Mania Palette
e.l.f. Essential Liquid Eyeliner in "Black"
e.l.f. Studio Mineral Infused Mascara

Brows:
"Buck" from the UD Naked Palette

Lips:
I seriously can't remember. I just threw something on just so they would look less chapped. Clearly it did not help. Haha.

Please ignore the craziness of my hair in these pictures. I have been slowly trying to get back to my natural color, and somehow ombre-ing my hair seemed like the obvious solution to cut through several years of coloring it dark brown. It is a wee bit crispy on the ends from the blonde (though you can't see them in the picture) and the top is too many different colors from my new growth + old color. Also I live in Tennessee... that is all I need to say to explain the frizzies at the top. Oh, and my hair is actually LIGHTER at the roots. The lighting is making them look crazy dark.

I wore this look out to lunch with my cousins who are in from Bermuda for the next week. I am so, so happy they are all here. :) I have been going for more natural looks lately, so it was fun to play up my eyes a little bit. Also, I am LOVING the Dream Fresh BB cream. I have horrible, acne prone skin lately. I managed to angle my face to hide the huge patch of it sitting on my cheek at the time of the pictures. Somehow the BB cream has improved the overall texture of my skin and the breakouts have gone down a ton since I switched from wearing foundation every day. Warning- It is veeeeeery light coverage. I make it work with a little concealer when needed, but if you have a lot of redness or really angry breakouts it won't do much for you. It is most definitely a "your skin only better" type deal.

Well, I am about to crash, so here are a few more pictures from the other day.

My little cousin, Ethan, being a complete cutie.
Murnau giving my nuzzles. He is a total mama's boy.

And, finally, my ridiculously handsome man with his ridiculously perfect teeth. Swoon.

Now it is bed time for the kitties and I! Goodnight.

An awkward introduction.

Howdy, internet.

My name is Emily-Ann and am a cosmetologist in the making. I am really, really excited about having my own little corner of the internet. If, by some random chance, you had stumbled upon the blog I kept many moons ago I am sorry for abandoning ship. I just felt like writing in it was more of a chore than anything and I couldn't force myself to write in it.

Which brings me here.

I love hair. I love makeup. I am a product junkie (not that you can tell... 90% of the time I am barely wearing makeup. Oops.) and I love trying new techniques. I have been a pretty active member of sites like makeupalley for a while now, and I lurk a ton of beauty blogs. I am really excited to bring you tutorials and makeup ideas, as well as product reviews. Also, I actually have all my posts scheduled for next week. Yay! Which means I will at least appear less awkward. Anywaaaaays. I am off to photograph a wedding (I also do photography!) and to help my mister move into his new place in Murfreesboro. An hour away from me. Sad face.

See you Monday!
